Partners of Community organization (PACOS Trust)

PACOS TRUST is a community based voluntary organization registered under the Trustees Ordinance Chapter 148, Sabah, Malaysia to help raise the quality of life of Indigenous communities. Although PACOS has only been registered with the ordinance in 1997, it has been actively involved with communities since 1987 as a different legal entity.

Vision
To create a peaceful and united indigenous communities equipped with knowledge and skills to manage resources and opportunities to support a comfortable life. Mission To raise the overall quality of life of indigenous communities Goals 1. Obtain Native Customary Land titles and secure user rights to other land 2. Strengthen indigenous knowledge related to resource management 3. Strengthen positive values, cultures, language and belief systems of indigenous peoples.

Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS)

Jaringan Orang Asal SeMalaysia (JOAS) or the Indigenous Peoples Network of Malaysia is the umbrella network for 105 Orang Asal (Indigenous Peoples) community-based organisations and communities, supported by associated members drawn from Indigenous NGOs and Indigenous-focused NGOs in Malaysia. JOAS Missions are defending and fighting for the rights of Indigenous Peoples in Malaysia, establishing and supporting as many Indigenous networks as possible in every region in Malaysia (i.e. Peninsular, Sabah and Sarawak), to strengthen relationships and cooperation between Indigenous Peoples throughout Malaysia, to promote the development of knowledge, skills and self-development of JOAS members, and to enhance the skills and awareness of Indigenous development and to strengthen ties with other organizations and civil society.

Established in 1992, JOAS’ campaign and advocacy focus on the recognition of customary land, development policies and handling conflicts, particularly with the private sector or business sector.
