Gender Development Association (GDA)

Gender Development Association, GDA, is a leading Gender Rights Non-Profit Association, working throughout Lao PDR since 1991. GDA works to empower women and men to achieve gender equity through joint action, knowledge sharing and ending gender-based violence and discrimination. Our team is based in Vientiane Capital, and works in rural ethnic communities throughout Laos, as well as with our network of international partners.

Vision:
GDA believes that gender equality is necessary for poverty reduction. It is a pre-condition for sustainable development, good governance and peace. Gender equality is also an end itself, grounded in justice and human rights and consistent with the principles, conventions and decrees of the government of the Lao PDR. GDA is a lead and facilitation body for pursuing gender equality base on non-violence and gender based discrimination to all area of development work in Laos’s society.

Mission:
To achieve the vision, GDA will provide professional support and information on gender, and enhance cooperation with development partners toward gender equality.

Values:
Working together towards a life base on non-violence and without poverty, with greater equity and empowerment for all. GDA believes that strong collaboration with members, partners and Government bodies is essential in the promotion of gender equality.
