Asia Indigenous Youth Platform (AIYP) Strongly Condemns the Brutality and Tragedy in Nepal
Asia Indigenous Youth Platform (AIYP) expresses our deepest sorrow and strongest condemnation over the brutal suppression of peaceful youth protests in Nepal. In recent days, young protestors – many still in school uniforms – have courageously risen to speak against systemic corruption, entrenched nepotism, and escalating violations of human rights. The state’s violent response, including the reported killing of 21 unarmed students and the injuring of many more, constitutes a shocking and intolerable abuse of power. We unequivocally condemn these heinous actions. Silencing youth voices with bullets is not only an assault on democracy but also a grave crime against humanity. Such acts cannot and must not be normalized or ignored.
We urgently call on:
This tragedy is not confined to Nepal alone. It is a stark reminder of the threats faced by young people who dare to challenge injustice, systemic corruption across the Asia region.
We stand with the youths of Nepal. Their fight is our fight – a fight for democracy, for human rights, and for the dignity of all peoples. The world must not remain silent.
