“Today’s young generation must reconnect with nature and make conscious choices to protect our biodiversity,” says Kiran Ekka in celebration of International Day for Biological Diversity.
Kiran works with Adivasi Navjeewan Gathan Navjyoti Agua (ANGNA) based in Kutra, Sundergarh District, Odisha, India.
She highlights the increasing shift toward chemical fertilizers, artificial foods, and plastic use—moving away from nature’s own provisions.
“We should return to using natural fertilizers and embrace Indigenous foods like Tendu, Char, and Tamarind. We must also revive eco-friendly, decomposable products such as leaf plates, handmade brooms, and palm leaf mats.”
“Let’s each take a step forward to protect biodiversity for future generations,” she urges.
