Kapaeeng Foundation, a national partner of the Indigenous Navigator initiative in Bangladesh, published an advocacy paper for Indigenous Peoples Rights in Bangladesh based on the data founded recently conducting Indigenous Navigator community surveys for six Indigenous communities- Dalu, Hodi, Khasi, Kondo, Lushai and Santal in Bangladesh.
“Drawing on community-level and national-level data, this paper uncovers the current status of Indigenous issues, from cultural rights, land and resource rights, legal protections, participation in public affairs, access to justice, cross-border interactions, and social development, education access, healthcare facilities, employment rights, and rights to self-development. – Kapaeeng Foundation
Assessing the current challenges of IPs in Bangladesh, this paper highlighted a few recommendations for the government of Bangladesh, UN agencies and development partners, Media and Civil Society, and Indigenous Peoples organizations.
The English and Bengali versions of this advocacy paper are available on the AIPP website from the link below.
