Meet Ms. Pasang Dolma Sherpa, the Executive Director of the Center for Indigenous Peoples’ Research and Development (CIPRED). Ms. Sherpa shares CIPRED’s dedicated efforts in protecting, promoting, and recognizing Indigenous Peoples’ traditional knowledge, cultural values, practices, and customary institutions, which are vital for safeguarding biodiversity and enhancing climate resilience.
She urges policymakers and relevant stakeholders to shift their perspective on Indigenous Peoples from mere observers to key partners. She emphasizes the importance of including Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous Women, Indigenous Youth, and Indigenous Persons with Disabilities in the implementation and monitoring of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF).
