Celebrating Sustainable Use of Marine Resources: Wisdom from the Mukkuvar Community

As we continue to celebrate the International Day for Biodiversity, we are delighted to share a video message from Dr. Johnson Jament of the Mukkuvar Community in South India.

He emphasizes the importance of Free, Prior, and Informed Consent (FPIC) and urges governments, project developers, and the scientific community to implement FPIC before initiating any development activities along coastal waters.
