Indigenous Peoples Voices on Biodiversity: Ms. Mane Yun, Cambodia

Meet Mane Yun: Championing Indigenous Peoples Rights in Cambodia

Mane Yun, the Executive Director of the Cambodia Indigenous Peoples Organization (CIPO). As a proud member of the Bunong Indigenous Community, Ms. Mane has dedicated many years to advocating for the rights of Indigenous Peoples, Indigenous Women, and Indigenous Youth in Cambodia.

“We depend on biodiversity, and biodiversity is connected to our society, our culture, and our economy,” says Mane. Despite this vital connection, she is deeply concerned about the increasing restrictions on traditional practices and access to resources imposed by new and amended laws in Cambodia.

Ms. Mane asserts that these laws must adhere to international legal standards, including the Convention on Biodiversity (CBD) and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP).
