Mr. Kaisanan is associated with PIDA (Papora Indigenous Development Association) and the Central Taiwan Ping-Pu Indigenous Groups Youth Alliance. He belongs to the Taokas people in the Central mountainous area of Taiwan.
He emphasizes that the climate crisis is impacting the culture and living conditions of Indigenous Peoples. Moreover, he explains that members of his community are planting traditional herbs around the village. The younger generation is learning from the elders and documenting the significance of traditional plants in their diet, medicine, and rituals.
They are also actively working to preserve their seeds and raise awareness among the youth about the food systems within their community.
