Swept into the Limelight

Before the 2004 Boxing Day tsunami few had heard of the Mokens, an indigenous group of people living along the coast of the Andaman Sea. Also known as sea gypsies, they became a worldwide curiosity, most having unexplicably escaped the killer waves that devastated much of the area. Here we examine how life has changed for three Moken communities over the years.
