This policy paper reiterates the importance of multiple functions of forests to indigenous peoples including their social, cultural, spiritual, environmental and economic values that are integral to the territorial governance and livelihood systems of indigenous peoples. The paper recommends the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technical Advice (SBSTA) to recognize the need for specific measures and policies to be established and implemented by the Parties and their partners as fundamental and enabling conditions to secure and enhance the NCBs in REDD+.
