Indigenous Peoples’ Voices on Biodiversity: Ms. Pasang Dolma Sherpa – Nepal

Pasang Dolma Sherpa, a member of Nepal’s Sherpa Indigenous Community serves as the Executive Director of the Center for Indigenous Peoples Research and Development (CIPRED).

Ms. Sherpa has devoted many years to working for the recognition, protection, and promotion of the customary institutions and traditional governance systems of Indigenous Peoples in Nepal.

She welcomes the recognition of the rights and knowledge systems of Indigenous Peoples in the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Furthermore, she urges the government and relevant agencies to prioritize the effective implementation of this new biodiversity framework by placing emphasis on the rights, knowledge, values, and cultural practices of Indigenous Peoples.
