The message of Mr. Deepak Minz, Project Coordinator of ANGNA from Odisha, India on the celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity.
Johar! My name is Deepak Minz. I belong to Kisan Indigenous Community from Odisha, India.
As we observe this day as International Biodiversity Day, we need to value biodiversity.
As we know, biodiversity is life and our life depends on biodiversity. So, it becomes our responsibility to protect biodiversity. We need to take a pledge from agreement to action to bring back biodiversity.
In the last century, we humans have dominated biodiversity causing a rapid change and massive loss of biodiversity. Earth has always experienced change and extinction which is occurring at a very high rate.
And today I believe that We, Indigenous Peoples have time to bring back biodiversity to normal and it is within our power to change our actions to help ensure the survival of life and the integrity of the ecosystem.
Biodiversity needs protection for the better future of our generation. And we also hope that we succeed in protecting biodiversity for our future.
Thank you, Johar!
